Design Engineer | Civil Engineer

Job description

Acorn Engineering, a growing Maine based civil and environmental engineering firm, is seeking a qualified Design Engineer. The Engineer will assist the development team through the life cycle of projects.

Responsibilities include:

site design
development of drawings
stormwater design
coordination with project stakeholders
regulatory permitting
construction administration

Acorn’s current projects include:

permitting for community solar farms
floodplain restoration
watershed restoration projects
municipal parks including artwork installations
urban infill developments, including the tallest building in Maine
affordable housing projects throughout the State

Acorn partners with high quality clientele and champions their projects from initial concept, through planning board approval to final completion. This is an exciting opportunity to assist a small (but growing) engineering firm with a variety of tasks. Capabilities and Credentials

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
0-4 years experience with design, permitting and construction administration for various site design projects within Maine
Strong technical and engineering design skills
Proficiency in AutoCad Civil 3D & HydroCAD
Understanding of Local, Maine and Federal permitting regulations and applications
Experience with stormwater treatment design
Valid driver’s license
EI Certification required

Hybrid Work Environment

Employee will be provided with a laptop to enhance a hybrid work model. It’s anticipated the hybrid remote model would include 75% of time in the office and 25% remote. This balanced approach fosters in person collaboration while providing opportunities to be with family and travel which is an important part of our company’s culture.
