Construction Inspector - Class II

Job description

Now accepting applications for Class II Inspector positions. The Class II Inspector is assigned to a single daily operation on MaineDOT construction projects and will support the Class III or Resident Inspector. Class II Inspector positions are seasonal with the goal of long term, seasonal construction employment with Acorn. Overnight and weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities and Duties

Experience in construction inspection preferred but not required with 2 or 4 year industry related degree
General construction inspection
Measurement and documentation of construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications
Computation of quantities and test values
Basic field testing
Other duties as assigned

Specific duties may include, Hot Mix Asphalt paving inspector, Railroad Facility Oversight, Marine Facility Oversight or performing basic inspection of construction activities.

Qualifications and Skills

A minimum 2 years’ experience in construction inspection
NETTCP paving certification
ACI concrete certification preferred
Knowledge of Maine DOT standards preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions to perform tasks independently and produce neat and accurate reports
Commitment to working with integrity and in an ethical manner
Ability to maintain safe work practices in a fast-paced work environment
Dependable and willing to work 10+ hours per day
