Hugh Savage founded Acorn Engineering, Inc. and has over 50 years of engineering experience. Hugh began his engineering career as a Combat Engineer Officer in the Corps of Engineers, US Army at Fort Campbell, KY, and the Republic of Viet Nam in 1964 to 1966. Upon his discharge from active duty he joined Metcalf & Eddy as an Inspector and Project Engineer.
He left Metcalf & Eddy to attend graduate school and joined CH2M Hill in Seattle, WA. At CH2M Hugh served as a Resident Engineer, and Project Manager. He transferred to Milwaukee, WI where he was Construction Project Manager for the upgrade of the Jones Island Wastewater Treatment Plant.
In 1984, Hugh moved to Maine where he worked for Wright – Pierce, Harriman Associates, E. C. Jordan, and T. Y. Lin in various capacities, including Project Manager, Construction Administrator, Senior Civil Engineer, and Environmental Engineering Division Manager. He established Acorn Engineering in 1988.
In 2007 he turned over the ownership of Acorn to his son, William Savage, so Hugh could focus on the responsibilities of the Home Inspection business that he and his wife owned. In 20 years, he has inspected over 5000 homes, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities.
In 2010 he sold the home inspection business and once again began working with Acorn. Hugh is anticipated to bring his diverse experience, as well as providing senior design services for project review.
